These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of TreeTap, including the website, web application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with a parent or guardian's supervision and consent.
When you tap an NFC tag, we automatically create an anonymous session so you can log your find without signing up. This session is temporary. If you later create an account (e.g. via Google sign-in), your anonymous finds are merged into your new account.
If you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Anonymous sessions that remain inactive may be deleted.
TreeTap uses NFC tags placed in physical locations. You agree not to:
Tags remain the property of the user who placed them. TreeTap is not responsible for tags that are lost, damaged, or removed by third parties.
The Service is for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
Some caches require GPS verification. If prompted, your browser will ask for location permission. You can decline, though it may prevent you from logging certain finds. See our Privacy Policy for details on how location data is handled.
You are responsible for any content you upload (photos, notes, cache descriptions). Do not post content that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or infringes on others' rights.
By uploading content, you grant TreeTap a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account.
Your username, profile picture, find count, and streak data are publicly visible on your profile and on leaderboards. Cache pages display recent finders. If you prefer not to be visible, you can delete your account.
All Service content (design, code, logos, text) is owned by TreeTap or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy or distribute it without permission.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or that defects will be corrected. Use the Service at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TreeTap shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost profits, data, or goodwill.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TreeTap and its affiliates from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may also delete inactive anonymous sessions.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Texas. If you are located in the EU/EEA, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
